Expert: Spanish property market downturn claims were exaggerated
Recent claims concerning a potential downturn in the Spanish property market were overplayed, as interest in the market remains "very, very strong", an expert in the market has revealed.
Mark Stucklin of Spanishpropertyinsight.com claimed that although buyer confidence has "taken a knock", Spain's unique mixture of culture, climate and lifestyle still attracts Britons in their droves.
He added that some areas have suffered problems thanks to the downturn, with a "much more subdued" market, but the expert maintained that now is a good time to invest in Spanish property.
"It's the first time in many years there's been a buyers market," commented Mr Stucklin.
He concluded by saying that it is unrealistic to expect the price of quality properties to fall to bargain prices, as demand has remained strong and "always will be".
Recently, a report from the Bank of Scotland revealed that Spain has remained one of the most desirable destinations for Britons, along with France. Some 5% of those surveyed expressed an interest in moving to Spain.
