Falling prices prompt investor activity

Recent price drops in overseas property markets have enabled many investors to seek bargains in previously expensive areas.

This is according to Shelter Offshore, which claims that property buyers with an eye for a bargain are currently "getting active" in order to take advantage of the fall in prices.

Several major property indexes have reported price drops around the world recently, meaning investors with cash at the ready are poised to clinch favourable deals.

"If you're a cash buyer with an appetite for risk, the market is probably looking very attractive right now," Shelter Offshore states.

The website also says that overseas property developers and agents are likely to be particularly accommodating to interested buyers in the current climate.

"If you're in the market for a home abroad, now is quite possibly the best time to begin actively looking for that bargain property," it claims.

This view echoes recent comments from A Place in the Sun magazine, which said that more affordable overseas property is the "silver lining" of the economic downturn.
