Family join together to invest abroad

A Scottish brother and sister have decided to pool their resources in order to buy a foreign property.

Jim Monteith and Elaine Wallace decided to club together with their other halves in order to invest in a residence overseas.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, they stated that they decided to take this approach in order to avoid spending more than they could afford.

Mrs Wallace commented: "By splitting the expense, we all still enjoy the benefits of having a holiday home without it costing the earth."

She added that following the death of their mother, they decided that they did not want to waste more time, since they had been thinking about buying abroad "for a while".

Both couples now jointly own a residence in Spain, where they will be able to take advantage of leisure facilities such as golf courses.

According to research by Yorkshire Bank, 43% of Britons are considering buying a foreign property, either for use as a holiday home, an investment or a place to enjoy their retirement.
