Footballer could miss out on trip to Spain
A Scottish footballer may have to put a group trip to Spain on hold after it emerged that his team may have to replay a cup match.
Spartans captain Stewart Fowlie was set to jet off to Spain for five days of golf in the sunshine, according to the Daily Record.
The western European country is popular with UK property investors with a love for golf thanks to its many beautiful courses and fine weather.
But it seems Fowlie and friends could miss out after Elgin City fielded an ineligible player in their Scottish Cup match against Spartans.
The player in question - 20-year-old goalkeeper Joe Malin who is on loan from Ross County - turned in a man-of-the-match performance to help Elgin beat the Edinburgh minnows 2-1.
If the game is replayed, Fowlie will have to put off his plans until the summer.
Due to Spain's diverse climate, the country has weather to suit many tastes - the average temperature in Seville ranges from 11 degrees Celsius in January to 27 degrees Celsius in July and August, making life there slightly more pleasant than in blustery Britain.
