France attracts British tourists

Rental investors in France could be set to benefit from renewed interest in the country among British holidaymakers.

According to American Express, a growing number of people are choosing to visit France because it is easily accessible by ferry.

As a result, consumers can avoid the long check-in times which people associate with air travel, while they can also take their car abroad with them.

The company said this means British tourists can enjoy greater convenience and freedom while on holiday.

Chris Rolland, head of American Express Insurance Services, commented: "Long working days means that they don't want to waste any more time than necessary with long check-in times.

"Consequently the trend appears to be taking a return to family drive holidays."

This comes after research by American Express revealed that 38% of Britons are not willing to forego their summer holiday this year, despite the rising cost of living in the UK.

The study showed that consumers will instead make sure they can afford a trip overseas by making cutbacks elsewhere.
