France 'is still the most desirable European property investment destination'
France is still the most popular destination for overseas property investment in Europe among Britons, according to the findings of a new survey.
The Bank of Scotland revealed that some 6% of the UK population revealed they would like to live in France - a sentiment particularly strong in older age groups.
And although Australia is the most popular destination overall - especially with people aged under 45 - France is a country of choice for property investors aged 45 and over, the report revealed.
Tony Wilcox, managing director at the Bank of Scotland, remarked: "It is the younger generation that continues to be attracted to moving abroad and Australia and France are clearly popular destinations."
"Living, working or retiring abroad can mean a whole set of lifestyle changes, including an impact upon your financial affairs," he remarked.
Mr Wilcox concluded by saying that investors looking overseas for property should ensure that they can access the right financial services when they need them.
A previous release from the Bank of Scotland revealed that Spain is second only to France in the desirability stakes for European property.
