Global credit crunch 'will not impact upon Brazil'

The global credit crunch will not affect Brazil, according to Regis Abreu, an asset manager at Mercatto Gestao de Recursos in the country's capital Rio de Janeiro.

In comments made to Bloomberg, the industry expert suggested that businesses based in Brazil are likely to "enjoy robust earnings growth", which may be good news for those making property investments in the country.

Mr Abreu said: "Economic growth in Brazil this year won't be affected so much, despite the credit crisis and slump in global financial markets."

The asset manager's assessment comes as Brazil was highlighted as a potential property investment hotspot at an event in the US.

Kellie Maske, an economist with FedEx, who was speaking at the Commercial Property Forecast Summit in Memphis, indicated that the South American country has "dynamic growth potential".

Last week, property and real estate companies were able to benefit from an increase in stocks in the country, Bloomberg reports.
