Golf tourism boost for Morocco as PGA European tour announces stop in Rabat
Morocco could receive a boost in golf tourism next year as it is added to the list of destinations visited on the PGA European Tour.
The Race to Dubai consists of at least 47 events across Europe, Asia and Africa which are attended by pro players and golf enthusiasts.
A total of six new events will appear on the schedule for the latest tour, including one in Rabat, Morocco. The Hassan Trophy will be played at Royal Dar es Salam, Rabat between March 18th and March 21st 2010.
The tour officially kicks off at an event in South Africa on December 10th.
Morocco was recently named as a top destination to invest in golf property by the Times. It claimed that an increase in popularity and status in the country could produce property price increases.
Colin Hegarty, president of the Golf Research Group, told the newspaper: "Get the location and formula right, and whenever you put houses near a golf course, the price just goes up."
