Half-term holidaymakers head to Spain

Rental accommodation in Spain is likely to be in high demand during the upcoming school holidays.

According to Skyscanner, many British families are planning to spend this month's half-term break overseas.

The flight search engine revealed that Spain is proving to be a particularly popular destination, as it attracted more internet searches than any other country.

This means that there is likely to be strong demand for tourist accommodation in hotspots such as Alicante, Malaga and Murcia.

Commenting on this trend, Barry Smith of Skyscanner said: "Spain has always been very popular with British holidaymakers.

"Despite heavy competition from other Mediterranean countries, it seems it's still the favourite."

Mr Smith highlighted Spain's good weather as one of its main attractions, along with its affordability and close proximity to the UK.

This comes after research commissioned by the Association of British Travel Agents found that 83% of those who have been abroad recently will again head overseas in the next year.
