Hilton sees 'large Romanian profits'

Turnover has increased at the Athenee Palace Hilton hotel in Bucharest after it signed a number of accommodation contracts, new reports have suggested.

These deals have generated about 500 million euros (£338 million) after agreements with such as firms as Petrom and Coca Cola, reports zf.ro.

A spokesperson at the hotel stated that accommodation has been provided for these companies for staff over large periods of time.

Other companies included Enel and came to around 200 in total, the publication states.

General manager at the hotel Friedrich Niemann stated that the deals are good news for the company.

"The year 2007 will be even stronger than last year, which was considered Hilton's best in Romania so far. We expect our turnover to increase by 10% in 2007, particularly because of the growth in the business travel sector," he commented.

In other news, the economy in Romania is continuing to see growth, according to the economy and finance minister Varujan Vosganian.
