'Insatiable' demand for holiday homes in Crete
Holiday and retirement homes in Crete are experiencing "insatiable" demand from British and European property buyers, it has been suggested.
Competition for land is high between homebuilders looking to capitalise on the region's property boom, reports Best Syndication.
Crete is the largest of the Greek islands and is attracting increasing numbers of offshore property investors looking to purchase their second home, the article notes.
"Local builders and international property developers alike are clamouring to purchase land and plots to satisfy the seemingly insatiable demand for holiday and retirement homes," according to the news provider.
Prospective holiday homebuyers are advised in the article that rented properties must be registered and inspected by the Greek Tourist Board (EOT).
Buy-to-let investors are also urged to seek a guarantee from the builder of their property stating that it will meet the EOT requirements.
Traditional village houses and stone hillside villas can be purchased for cheap prices in Crete's quieter locations, reports the Independent.
