Investment and tourism appeal of Turkey to be highlighted at conference

The Turkish capital of Ankara will be highlighting its appeal for tourism, and investment at a convention next year, reports the Hurriyet Daily News.

ATTM Travel Ankara 2010 is intended to show the city's potential as a top tourist destination. A representative from Exponet, who are organising the event, told the newspaper that there will be a focus on resorts, airlines, tennis and golf tourism.

Turkey is already expected to receive a huge influx of tourists next year, however this is predicted to be in the city of Istanbul which has been named as the 2010 European Capital of Culture. Figures from the UK foreign office state that over 2 million Brits already visit the country each year.

Dogan Acar, Ankara's director of culture and tourism, told the newspaper that tourism is of major importance to the Turkish economy as a source of employment and foreign currency.

He added that the fair will showcase Ankara's natural, cultural and historical heritage.
