Investors consider green issues

Foreign property buyers are increasingly considering environmental issues when making a purchase, according to experts.

Gordon Miller, founder of sustainability portal What Green Home, said the number of people who are thinking about a property's green credentials is relatively small.

However, he told the Independent that this proportion is getting larger, as environmental issues are becoming more of a public concern.

Mr Miller commented: "Only 5% of buyers will ask environmental questions, but I'm seeing increased interest."

This could be indicative of the fact that the overall number of people buying a foreign residence has gone up significantly in the last few years.

According to Foreign Currency, a growing number of Britons are choosing to buy a property either for lifestyle purposes or as a wealth-generating exercise.

Speaking to the Daily Record, managing director Peter Ellis said buying a foreign residence can still be an "excellent investment".
