Investors favouring 'tried and tested' markets
Established overseas property locations will attract the most interest from investors in 2009, it has been claimed.
The Sunday Times reports that property investors are expected to fall back on "familiar favourites" such as France and Spain in response to the recent economic turmoil.
According to the newspaper, market analysts have predicted a "flight to quality" among investors, with many buyers favouring destinations which have traditionally proved to be shrewd investments.
Spain could be the market which gains the most from this shift in attitudes, as the country remains extremely popular with holidaymakers, second home buyers and retirees from the UK.
The Sunday Times explains: "Thanks to its climate, relaxed lifestyle and proximity to home, Spain is still a favourite with British buyers.
"Choose carefully and now could be the time to grab a bargain."
These comments echo a recent article on countrylife.co.uk, which claimed that many "spectacular bargains" will be found in the Spanish property market this year.
