Investors to benefit from 'gastro-tourism'
Overseas property investors could stand to benefit from the growing trend of so-called gastro-tourism, according to industry analysts.
Earlier this month, research by Expedia.co.uk found that many holidaymakers want to sample authentic foreign recipes in the places they originated from.
For example, some people were said to be taking holidays in Parma in order to try genuine Parma ham, while lovers of Roquefort cheese are heading to the French town where it was created.
According to NuBricks.com, this has opened up a new market for overseas property investors, as certain places are enjoying a boom in their rental markets as a result of growing tourism.
The website commented: "It seems that Italy is reaping the greatest benefit from this new visitor trend."
NuBricks.com added that some long-haul destinations, including countries such as Argentina, are also attracting many culinary-minded Britons.
