Italian tourist officials aim to attract visitors

Tourist officials from Italy are taking part in a special event in Spain in order to attract more visitors, it has been reported.

According to ANSA, 170 companies from the industry are attending the International Tourism Trade Fair FITUR in Madrid.

Spain is the biggest contributor to Italy's tourism sector, with 1.8 million people from the country visiting areas such as Tuscany, Lazio and Campania last year.

This is 3% more than during the previous year and a sign that rental accommodation in the most popular areas is still in strong demand.

If the representatives are successful in attracting more visitors during the next year, this suggests that demand for holiday homes will increase even further, therefore creating new opportunities for overseas property buyers.

This comes after Italy rose three places in a list of the ten most popular investment spots in a poll by A Place in the Sun magazine.
