Italy 'offers best quality of life'

People living in Italy enjoy a higher quality of life than those in other European countries, a new study has found.

According to the Academy of Healthy Ageing, people in the country have the highest life expectancy in Europe, reports the Typically Spanish website.

Researchers attributed this to their diet and their overall quality of life, which was said to be better than in other countries in the EU.

Figures showed that a typical Italian male could expect to reach an average age of 71, compared with 76 for women.

This was followed by Spain, where men and women were found to live to an average of 70 and 75.3 respectively.

The high quality of life in these two countries could account for their popularity among overseas property buyers.

Recent government figures showed that more than 55,000 Britons are currently receive their state pension in Spain, along with 35,000 people in Italy.
