Italy 'offers good quality of life'

A new study has highlighted Italy as a potentially good destination for expatriates to consider.

According to Alliance & Leicester, the European country offers the best quality of life in Europe.

Indeed, it ranked third in a list of all the nations which offer excellent living standards, beaten only by Australia and New Zealand.

Italy was also said to be a highly affordable place in which to live, more so than places including the UK, Portugal and Spain.

This means that Italy now ranks second in Alliance and Leicester's index of ideal expat locations, with New Zealand occupying the top spot.

Simon Ripton, acting managing director of the firm, commented: "Costs and quality of life are often not the primary reason that many UK citizens decide to move abroad, particularly if work takes them to another country."

This comes after insurance firm AXA predicted that the number of Britons who move abroad each year will go up in the near future.
