Italy's construction sector drives economic growth
The construction sector in Italy is playing a major role in driving economic growth, according to an expert.
Roberta Talotta from EC Harris stated that the industry generated almost a tenth of the country's gross domestic product.
Writing for Building.co.uk, she said construction has been very important to the economy for at least the last 9 years, as it has grown by more than a quarter throughout this period.
This, she continued, has led to the creation of lots of new jobs, which in turn has boosted people's personal wealth and living standards.
Ms Talotta commented: "The Italian construction industry has played a central role in the growth of the economy in recent years."
She added that the positive growth in GDP in recent years was a "direct result" of the strength of the construction sector.
This may also be a partial reflection of the country's popularity among overseas property investors.
According to NuWire Investor, the steady flow of tourists to the Mediterranean country means that Italian property has plenty of potential for high rental yields.
