'Key year' for Bulgarian rental return in 2007
Investors in Bulgarian property have an important time ahead of them, with one property investment claiming 2007 will be a "key time" to determine the level of rental yields.
With Bulgaria acceding to the European Union at the beginning of the year, 2007 has seen a lot of international focus falling on the country, and joining the bloc has led to interest in the real estate and tourism industries in particular.
"Bulgaria has had a huge amount of press and public interest in overseas property," said Paul Collins of BuyAssociation. "2007 will be a key time to see whether those who have invested will make money from the rental side of things."
Mr Collins added that the prospects of investment return look positive for 2007. He said: "One British tour operator has cited it as the market where they see the biggest growth this year, and having joined the EU in January, the country has a real opportunity to grow."
Bulgaria is expecting a 10% rise in tourism figures for this year, hoping to welcome 5.6 million visitors.
