Lifestyle buyers pointed towards Spain

People who are considering moving to Spain have been advised to buy a house sooner rather than later.

According to the Spanish Property Owners Guild (Spog), house prices in some parts of the country could fall by as much 30 per cent over the next two years.

While this is bad news for property investors who hope to make money from a foreign residence, the organisation believes this is a positive development for lifestyle buyers.

Paul Bradley, spokesperson for Spog, commented: "There are bargains to be had from those that are desperate to sell."

However, he recommended that prospective buyers get experts advice before committing to a purchase.

Mr Bradley said people need to consider practical issues if they are planning to live overseas on a permanent basis.

According to the Association of International Property Professionals, Spain is still the most popular foreign market among British property buyers.

The country was said to account for more than a quarter of the overseas property market in 2007.
