Long-haul offers good value
People who are planning a trip abroad this year have been advised to travel to a long-haul destination.
According to the Post Office, the value of the pound is "plummeting", which means visitors to eurozone countries face a "steep rise" in overall costs.
The organisation said that travelling further afield to somewhere with a more favourable exchange rate would offer travellers much better value for money.
However, some European countries were still said to offer good prices, such as those which are not in the single currency.
Helen Warburton, head of travel at the Post Office, commented: "Bulgaria has emerged as the cheapest European destination, although more expensive than in 2007, followed closely by Turkey."
She added that Spain is the cheapest country within the eurozone, as tourist staples cost about 15 per cent less than in France, Italy and Portugal.
This comes after currency exchange firm Travelex said that a growing number of people are considering monetary fluctuations and attempting to mitigate their impact on their holidays.
