Long-haul travel 'appeals to Britons'

A growing number of British holidaymakers are choosing to travel to long-haul destinations, new research has revealed.

According to Cater Allen Private Bank, only 26 per cent of people surveyed wish to holiday in Europe this year.

Meanwhile, nearly two-thirds of respondents stated that they want to travel further afield to places such as South America.

This was said to be partly because people want to do something different, such as experiencing a new culture.

In addition, one in five said they wanted to feel as if they are on an adventure.

Sally Ann Watts, head of marketing at Cater Allen, commented: "This research shows that Britons are moving away from traditional holidays and becoming aspirational in their holiday choices."

This comes after Phil Davies of TravelMole told the Telegraph that the strong euro is having "significant impact" on where people are choosing to take their holidays.
