Montenegrin tourist trade continues to grow
Officials in Montenegro are predicting an increase in the number of foreign visitors this year.
According to mayor of Budya Rajko Kuljaca, the eastern European country is becoming more and more popular with overseas leisure travellers.
He was quoted by the Visit Montenegro website as saying that during the year to date, visitor numbers have been 14% up on the same period last year.
In addition, he revealed that the number of overnight stays has gone up by 16% in the last 12 months.
Commenting on the country's popularity, Mr Kuljaca said the visitor numbers in Montenegro have now reached a record high.
The recent launch of direct flights from the UK could be set to stimulate further growth in the nation's tourism sector.
Earlier this month, Montenegro Airlines began offering twice-weekly services between Tivat and London's Gatwick Airport.
This could potentially enhance the appeal of Montenegro to overseas property buyers, which would in turn lead to growth in its housing market.
