Montenegro aims to attract foreign investors

Montenegro's government has revealed that it is aiming to attract foreign investors to a new tourism development.

Authorities in the eastern European country are currently planning to turn a number of towns along the Adriatic coast into upscale holiday resorts.

Speaking to AFP, the tourism ministry said it is hoping the development could significantly boost the Montenegrin economy.

"Investment of that scope and character can be a trigger for the economic boom that we are expecting," it stated.

The department added that is hoping foreign investors will be interested in helping to transform the region into a world-class leisure resort.

This comes after the Foreign Property Buyer website said that imminent accessibility improvements are causing some investors to get very "excited" about the country.

Montenegro Airlines will begin operating direct services to the eastern European country from London Stansted Airport next month.
