Montenegro goes green

Government officials in Montenegro have revealed that they plan to promote environmental awareness to motorists.

The Mina news agency reports that drivers will have to pay a €10 "eco-tax" when they enter the country, which will entitle them to a sticker which will last for a year.

This money can then go towards boosting other environmental projects and boost the eastern European country's economy and sustainability.

Since Montenegro is currently attracting a record number of tourists, the scheme could be highly beneficial, as the government will be able to invest more in further improving its desirability.

Maja Lijesevik, deputy of director of the Montenegro National Tourist Organisation, said 1.1 million holidaymakers visited the country last year.

The news provider added that Montenegro has gained "wild popularity" since it was visited by fictional spy James Bond in the film Casino Royale.

Earlier this week, the Telegraph stated that many locations which have previously been featured in the long-running film series are now hotspots for overseas property investors.
