Montenegro tipped for EU entry
Montenegro could be a member of the European Union within the next few years, according to a leading official.
Doris Pack, president of the European Parliaments Committee for Relations with South-East Europe, stated that it may be a full member by 2012, reports B92.
However, she said that in order for this to happen, the government needed to implement necessary reforms in areas such as the justice system.
Ms Pack commented: "The quicker, the better - I hope they will heed my words."
She added that the government had to be more transparent in economic development and stop the country from become overdeveloped.
This, she stated, would allow it to preserve its "magnificence" and protect its "unique character".
Montenegro has already begun attracting interest from people such as overseas property investors.
According to Holiday-Rentals, the country has experienced a surge of interest from foreign buyers during the last year.
