Montenegro to benefit from EU funding
People in Montenegro will receive more money from the European Union (EU) than those in any other Balkan country, it has been reported.
BalkanInsight.com said that 131.3 million in funding had been allocated to the eastern European country for the next two years.
This means that people will get more money per capita than their counterparts in neighbouring nations.
The money will be used to develop cross-border links with other countries, as well as fund the development of new infrastructure and public services.
For example, new road networks will be developed including a bypass around the capital Podgorica.
Meanwhile, some of the money will be diverted towards reforming some of the mechanics of local government and conserving the environment.
This should stimulate economic growth and potentially attract more holidaymakers to the country.
BalkanInsight.com recently revealed that Montenegro was becoming an increasingly popular location among foreign property buyers.
