More Britons investing overseas
Foreign property ownership is becoming increasingly popular in the UK, according to a British newspaper.
The Sun said that the number of Britons who own a permanent residence or second home abroad has gone up significantly in the last few years.
A number of reasons for this trend were flagged up, such as the potential to make money from a buy-to-let investment.
However, the newspaper suggested that others are leaving because they are disenchanted with life at home.
Commenting on this trend, the Sun observed: "The number of Brits looking to buy property overseas has skyrocketed in recent years."
The publication added that the temptation of a foreign country is proving to be "hard to resist" for many people.
Figures from the Association of International Property Professionals show that about 242,000 overseas property purchases were made by British buyers last year.
This is 21% up on the number recorded 12 months earlier, illustrating the growing appeal of foreign property ownership in the UK.
