More Britons seek to move abroad

The number of British people looking to relocate to foreign shores is on the rise, an expert has stated.

Paul Arthur, director of The Emigration Group, said factors such as the rising living costs, the credit crunch and poor weather are fuelling interest in leaving the UK.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, he said this trend is particularly apparent in areas such as the north-west of England.

He commented: "Manchester is right at the top of the list.

"We're getting more enquiries from the north-west than anywhere else."

Mr Arthur added that the number of people enquiring about emigrating has risen by a quarter in the last 12 months.

Last week, NatWest highlighted the growing globalisation of companies as one factor behind growing migration from the UK.

The organisation added that the increased ease of travel between different countries has also contributed to this trend.
