More Britons set to move to Antalya
The Turkish province of Antalya is set to become a hotspot for British expatriates in the near future, according to an expert.
Allan Williams from London Metropolitan University said he believes the region will be a migration centre in the next few years, reports Today's Zaman.
Speaking at an event organised by Dokuz Eylul University (DEU), he predicted that it would prove to be especially popular with foreign retirees.
This was largely attributed to factors such as Antalya's good weather and modern infrastructure.
Mr Williams commented: "Retired people look at the climate, transportation facilities, lifestyle, culture and language of their target countries."
He added that Turkey will be the destination of choice for a "considerable" number of foreign retirees during the next 12 months.
According to new research from DEU, about 14,000 retired expatriates now live in Antalya on a permanent basis.
