More people 'could move abroad next year'

More people could be set to leave Britain to live in another country next year, according to an expert.

Richard Gregan, managing director of Emigration Overseas, stated that the number of people choosing to move abroad in 2008 could be higher than that seen this year,

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 385,000 people relocated to another country during the year to July 2006.

Mr Gregan said this figure is likely to increase, partly because of the record-breaking amount of rain seen in the UK this summer.

This, he stated, could possibly have prompted a larger than usual number of people to consider leaving the country for sunnier climes.

He commented: "It's not the only reason, but it's the straw that broke the camel's back."

The ONS figures showed that Spain was one of the most popular countries among Britons, along with Canada and the US.
