Moroccan tourism levels 'at record high'
Buy-to-let landlords who have opted to invest in property in Morocco are likely to welcome news that the African country expects record tourist levels this year.
News agency Reuters quotes Morocco's tourism minister Mohamed Boussaid as saying that the country believes it will welcome a total of 8.4 million people by the end of the year.
This will represent a rise of 5% when compared to previous years.
In an interview with the news provider, which took place over the weekend, Mr Boussaid said: "Our tourism is proving remarkably resilient and its performance is good as the persistent global crisis is projected to cut global tourism demand by 5% this year."
He attributed the growth and development within the tourism sector to liberalisation of air transport and the creation of more facilities for those visiting the country.
In recent days, budget airline easyJet announced the launch of new flights to Morocco, which could be a factor that contributes to the increase in tourism figures.
