Moroccan tourism 'set to grow'

The number of people visiting Morocco is likely to increase in the next few years, a news provider has stated.

Travel and Tourism News said the holiday sector was one of the country's main sources of revenue, resulting in the government actively trying to attract more visitors.

According to the media outlet, officials are aiming to push annual visitor numbers up to 10 million within the next three years.

During 2006, approximately 6.5 million people took a holiday in the north African country.

The portal added that since an increasing number of people were visiting Morocco, the need for new accommodation in major tourist hotspots was increasing.

This could create potential opportunities for overseas property investors, especially those who plan to invest in rental accommodation.

Last month, Morroco's tourism department published data showing that between January and July 2007, the number of tourists visiting the country was 10% higher than in the previous year.
