Morocco and the US celebrate 50 years of partnerships
Morocco and the US have celebrated the 50th anniversary of their partnership in ceremonies in both Washington and Rabat.
Highlighting the recent advances made by the Moroccan government, US director of foreign assistance Randall L Tobias said that the relationship between the two countries has shifted from one of "traditional assistance" to one "based on mutual benefit and interdependence".
In particular, Ambassador Tobias emphasised the improvements made in housing, small and medium-sized business growth, government agencies and agriculture.
"Fifty years ago, Morocco was a very different place from the country we know today. The massive expansion of the country's education infrastructure means that children and adults both have access," the diplomat remarked.
Ambassador Tobias concluded by saying that the cooperation between the nations would continue with the aim of turning Morocco into a "competitive" country on the global marketplace.
A recent report from Moody's Investors Service found that the Moroccan economy is becoming more resilient, with "positive trends" set to continue.
