Morocco attracts European expats

A growing number of Europeans are choosing to set up home in Morocco, according to a media report.

The New Zealand Herald stated that the north African country was proving to be highly popular with people from places such as Spain, France and the UK.

Property prices in Morocco were cited as one of its main attractions, along with the good weather and financial benefits including tax breaks.

Furthermore, the newspaper said that the country was serviced by low-cost airlines, thereby making it affordable and easy to reach.

One French expatriate, Evelyne Feraud, commented: "If I could have all I have here back home, I would have stayed there but I can't."

The New Zealand Herald added that the "vast majority" of European immigrants hailed from France.

This follows the launch of a new service between Spain and Morocco by low-cost airline easyJet last week.
