Morocco economy thrives amid global crisis
The financial crisis across the world does not appear to be inhibiting growth in the Moroccan economy.
According to the Financial Times, plentiful rain has ensured that lucrative sectors such as agriculture have performed strongly this year.
As a result, its economy is proving to be highly durable in the face of the continuing downturn in Europe and the US.
The comments were reiterated by Francois Clottes, head of the World Bank office in Morocco, who said the north African country is doing well.
He commented: "The numbers this year are certainly showing the very great resilience of the Moroccan economy in the context of international turmoil."
The Financial Times added that recent reforms have also helped boost the country, as it has been able to "absorb the shock" of rising commodity prices.
This comes after finance minister Salaheddine Mezouar was quoted by Reuters as saying that between now and 2012, the economy is likely to grow by 6.3% on an annual basis.
