Mourinho to promote Algarve to tourists
Football manager Jose Mourinho is to participate in a new campaign to promote the Algarve as a holiday destination.
The former Chelsea coach will be among several celebrities publicising the resort across Europe, reports the Portugal Resident.
According to the newspaper, the government-backed campaign also includes singer Mariza and Triathlon World Champion Vanessa Fernandes.
Bernardo Trindade, tourism secretary in Portugal, is understood to be visiting the UK this week in order to meet with leading business figures such as Harrods owner Mohammed Al Fayed.
The flagship retail store will be one of the locations where Portugal is to be promoted as a tourist destination.
If the campaign is successful and visitor numbers do increase, the country's overseas property market would also be likely to benefit.
The Irish Independent recently advised foreign investors to consider Portugal since its economy was strong and it offered "excellent" opportunities to foreign property buyers.
