Mugla attracts more visitors
The Turkish province of Mugla is becoming more and more popular with foreign tourists, according to new figures.
Official data cited by TurkishPress.com revealed that during the first two months of 2008, the region attracted more visitors than it did during the same period of the previous year.
Figures showed that tourist numbers rose by 114% on January and February 2007, going up to 20,697.
The province, which contains popular investment hotspots such as Bodrum, Fethiye and Dalaman, was also found to have attracted people of many different nationalities.
Mugla was visited by holidaymakers from countries such as the UK, Germany and the Netherlands at the start of this year.
In addition, the region was said to be a popular option for many Greek and French leisure travellers.
Turkish newspaper Today's Zaman recently reported that the country is becoming an increasingly appealing location for overseas property investors.
The publication cited figures showing that between 2003 and 2007, foreign nationals spent more than £5 billion on Turkish real estate.
