New Cyprus flights to be launched from Germany
Demand for travel to Cyprus is set to increase during the next year, an airline has predicted.
Lufthansa German Airlines stated that its limited edition flights from Munich to Larnaca had been a big success throughout the summer, reports the Financial Mirror.
This has prompted the carrier to introduce the service on a permanent basis from next spring, flying from each terminal three times a week.
The move should significantly improve the accessibility of Cyprus from mainland Europe, potentially enhancing its appeal as a market for overseas property investors.
Kathrin Pfeiler, Lufthansa's general manager for Cyprus, commented: "We expect the same high demand on this route throughout the whole summer season 2008."
Speaking to the Financial Mirror, she added that the airline had not anticipated the service becoming an "overwhelming success".
This follows a report in the same newspaper that the Association of Cyprus Travel Agents was planning to launch a marketing campaign to attract more visitors from non-English speaking countries.
