New easyJet services to be launched from Manchester
Budget airline easyJet has started to rebrand its aircraft at Manchester Airport following the acquisition of another company.
The low-cost carrier recently purchased GB Airways and is preparing to take over its existing routes, including flights to places such as Spain, Greece and Cyprus.
Commenting on this development, officials said it represents a "new era" for the airline and creates the potential for further growth.
This suggests that easyJet is preparing to build on its new presence in Manchester and open up routes to more destinations in the near future.
Carly Brear, UK commercial manager at the carrier, said: "We've received a warm welcome from the city and have already introduced a new route to Alicante, which will launch in the autumn."
She added that the airline is "committed" to further expansion in Manchester and is looking forward to introducing new routes from the airport.
Meanwhile, easyJet has revealed that passenger numbers in April 2008 were 13.4 per cent up on those recorded a year earlier.
