North-east Brazil 'has affordable prices'
Overseas property buyers have been told that north-east Brazil is a highly affordable market.
According to Richard Way, editor of A Place in the Sun magazine, foreign investors could find a number of reasonably-priced homes in the region.
Fortaleza was flagged up as one possible option, along with areas such as Ceara, Bahia and Rio Grande de Norte.
Commenting on the region, Mr Way said accessibility is set to be improved next year when a new airport opens in Natal.
This should make these bargain locations much easier to reach, which could potentially trigger renewed growth in their housing markets.
Mr Way commented: "There is a lot of activity [in] Natal, which is where the new airport's being built."
This comes after a study by Cater Allen Private Bank showed that a growing number of British tourists would like to travel outside Europe.
A survey showed that nearly two-thirds of respondents want to travel further afield to places such as South America.
