Olympics 'could boost Brazil's appeal'

Brazil's popularity with overseas property buyers could grow if it is successful with its Olympic bid, according to analysts.

Property Wire stated that the country is already spending billions of dollars on infrastructure improvements ahead of the Fifa World Cup in 2014.

This, it said, has helped to make Brazil an increasingly attractive location for foreign property investors to consider.

However, the South American nation is also bidding to secure the Olympic Games in 2016, which would lead to even more infrastructure upgrades being carried out.

Property Wire believes that if the bid is successful, even more second home buyers may look at investing in the market.

"Brazil now has its sights firmly set on hosting the 2016 Olympic Games," it commented.

Meanwhile, the Association of British Travel Agents has stated that an Olympic host nation can look forward to a boom in its tourist trade.

The organisation said this is partly because the Games help to raise the international profile of these countries.
