'Palin effect' set to heighten interest in eastern Europe
Interest in eastern European property markets could increase as a result of a new television programme, experts have predicted.
Daniel Pawlyn of adventure holiday website Intrepid said that more Britons could visit countries such as Romania after seeing them on Michael Palin's New Europe series.
He stated that the former Monty Python star's previous expeditions to places such as the Himalayas had led to an increase in the number of people visiting them.
Mr Pawlyn added that the same is likely to happen again due to Palin's new programme, which sees him visiting countries behind the old Iron Curtain.
He commented: "The great thing about the way Michael Palin travels is that he really gets under the skin of a country; travelling on local transport, staying in traditional accommodation and generally doing what the locals do."
Michael Palin's New Europe started its run on BBC2 yesterday and includes countries such as Bosnia, Albania, Slovakia and many other parts of eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
