Phone giant 'wins building contract in Romania'
Nokia has been granted a building licence to start work at the proposed production unit in Cluj county.
It is now hoped that production will be able to start during the first half of next year, reports zf.ro.
With the licence now in place, the firm said that it wanted to open up the possibility of more jobs in the area.
In total, the number of people employed at the unit will reach about 3,500 when it is in full swing, the organisation claimed.
"Nokia plans to build the plant gradually and recruit around 500 employees by the end of 2007," a statement read.
Back in March, the telecommunications firm first announced that it wanted to build the plant at Jucu industrial park.
The publication stated that the firm is set to invest 60 million euros (£40.8 million) in the project.
