Phone service 'to help Britons abroad'

A new phone line has been set up specifically in Spain to help British expatriates looking for help regarding property investment and other issues, according to reports.

The service has been organised by the British Consul, in order to decrease any complications these people may have, reports Homes Worldwide.

About 60 volunteers will now be on hand to help people and they will offer bilingual services, the publication stated.

Other concerns for over-50s will also be helped by the phone line, such as tax problems, social services issues, health and mobility. The line is set to be operated from Palma de Mallorca and the offices based there.

Homes Worldwide also cited recent research by AXA Retirement Scope suggesting that Britons now believe old age doesn't begin until they reach at least 70.

In related news, a new law is set to see greater transparency in terms of building procedures in Spain, something that may help potential property investors.
