Portugal is the 'perfect' holiday destination
A national newspaper has praised many of the tourist attractions that Portugal has to offer.
The Sun described the European country as a "golfer's paradise", as areas such as the Algarve offer high-quality facilities for fans of the sport.
However, the publication pointed out that it also appealed to other groups of people, including those who did not necessarily want to visit busy areas such as Lisbon.
The newspaper commented: "You will find deserted beaches, quiet coastal walks and picturesque fishing villages and harbours."
Portugal was described as a "land of contrasts" because of its wide variety of attractions.
The Sun added that everyone could enjoy the country's good weather, beaches and "clear blue waters".
Last month, the Portuguese government announced that a new airport would be created in Alcochete, close to Lisbon.
This could potentially boost tourism in areas such as the Silver Coast in western Portugal.
