Portugal 'offers affordable properties'
Overseas property buyers have been encouraged to consider purchasing a residence in Portugal.
According to ShelterOffshore.com, the European country is currently one of the most popular destinations for lifestyle buyers from the UK.
The online portal said this is because it offers attractions such as good weather all year round, as well as leisure facilities such as golf courses and beaches.
However, the website added that the price of property in some areas could make it a highly attractive location to consider.
Specifically, it stated that inland areas away from the coast are still highly affordable and offer a number of relatively cheap houses.
ShelterOffshore.com said: "You can bag bargains in some stunning inland towns and villages and still only be a short drive from major urban areas and the beach."
According to research by Knight Frank, house price inflation in Portugal rose to 3.8% during the first quarter of 2008.
