Portugal popular with second home buyers
Portugal is still a popular location among holiday home buyers from the UK, a newspaper has stated.
According to the Telegraph, the European country has become an appealing option for many because it offers a number of lifestyle attractions.
For example, it was said to have "faultless" beaches and good weather for 12 months of the year.
The publication added that the country has also become popular in recent years as a result of its growing housing market.
While Portugal has not seen growth on the same scale as its neighbour Spain, property values did go up by nearly a fifth between 2001 and 2006.
However, the Telegraph stated that this rate of growth has started to slow down as a result of the strong euro and the credit crunch.
The Times recently cited figures from the Portuguese Real Estate Association showing that 18,000 Britons purchased a home in the country last year.
