"Good time to buy" UK property

Now is a good time for people in the UK to be buying property, according to an expert.

Helen Adams, managing director of FirstRungNow.com, explained that signs of recovery in the housing market are emerging.

She was commenting following the release of Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) statistics, which showed that the number of loans provided for house purchase increased at a monthly rate of 2% in September.

Ms Adams noted that although first-time buyers and those who do not have a large deposit may still find it difficult to secure finance, those in a position to invest should consider doing so soon.

"I think it probably is a good time to buy, as we view buying property [as] a long-term thing," she remarked.

Earlier this week, moneysupermarket.com welcomed the CML figures, describing them as a sign that the housing market in the UK is gradually beginning to experience an upturn.
